Here at Cold Spring Alpacas in Westbrook, Connecticut, color is our middle name! We breed for color as well as for white, always with an eye toward great fiber, conformation and overall health and disposition of the alpaca. Bloodlines include Felix, Legacy, Hemingway, Camilio, Caligula, Schwarzkopf, Fabio, and Spellbinder.

We started our business with 3 fiber males and 3 breeding females. Why fiber-quality boys, you might ask? Betsy first fell in love with hand spinning and decided to purchase pet-quality boys to provide fiber for her passion. The cathartic effect of the day-to-day chores of caring for these mild creatures convinced Betsy that a breeding operation was in her future.

Wayne and Betsy currently agist, or board, their herd with a local breeder while their teen-age kids finish high school. At that time, they will actively look for a farm of their own.
